The Republic of Hell is a nation in a foreign dimension that exists besides our own. Hell is populated by mostly Demons, and is a parliamentary Republic, with a new leader elected every 10 years. Hell's closest and only ally on Earth is the UASF. The capital of Hell is the city of Dis.
In the past, the only way to access Hell were through portals, most of which regulated by the UASF, however in recent times more accessible means of transportation to the country is possible.
While portals still exist around the world, the more popular means of transport is the Zero-Highway System. These were built as a joint project between the UASF and Hell starting in 1963, and one highway has been constructed in all the major continents on Earth. Zero-Highways, or simply ZWays (pronounced Zee-Ways) are simply magically-concealed paved, multi-lane roads designed for heavy traffic, especially cargo trucks. ZWays are invisible to anyone without authorization, which comes in the form of either a windscreen sticker or a small device usually implanted in a glove box. Travel is recommended by car, although a small footpath is available. Halfway-through the ZWay, the border between Earth and Hell is presented as a very large portal, with a border checkpoint in place on both sides for entrance and exit. Guards station at the checkpoints are either Demon servants of the Hellianic government or UASF security staff, and are armed with assault weapons as well as anti-vehicle weapons.
They go as following:
- Wyoming Route Zero
- Guyana Route Zero
- Belgian Route Zero
- Saratov Route Zero
- Lapland Route Zero
- Tripoli Route Zero
The history of Hell can be traced back several thousands of years. Ancient ruins exist in-and-around Dis and carbon dating have traced the earliest examples of pottery and writing around 1,300 years BCE, however demons have been wandering the caves of Hell in a nomadic-style for possibly centuries before hand. Dis itself can be traced to around 300 BCE. Earliest known written records in the form of carvings on a rock face date back to around 250 BCE.
Government and Foreign Policy Edit
As its name suggests, Hell is a parliamentary Republic with an elected Leader of Hell as well as a governing congress made up of powerful and influential demons. There is a specific government sector within Dis where the headquarters of all the main organs of the Hellianic government operate from. The government of Hell is divided into six sectors/organs (the terms are used interchangeably), administration, emergency services, cultural, transportation, infrastructure, and Justice. Due to a bill passed in 1957, Hell does not have a permanently established armed forces.
The administrative organ of the Hellianic government encompasses the Leader of Hell, the congress of Hell as well as all the administrative departments of the other five sectors of government.
Emergency Services Edit
The current president of Hell is Montgomery Jkkirrt, elected in 2010, while the immortal King of Hell is forever entitled to Dr. Sir. Prof. S.T. Lucifer Phd, who studied at Darkmouth University and earned four masters in psychology, gender studies, general application of magic, and evolutionary theory as well as a Phd in electrical engineering and law.
Regarding electricity (which was introduced to Hell in the 1920s), almost all electricity in Hell is generated using geothermal power plants located very close to large pits of magma, the exception being numerous gasoline-powered backup generators.
Public transport mostly takes in the form a magnetically-levitating train system as well as carriage buses and cat and giant demon cows.
Emergency service buildings and services are all government funded with the exception of a select few of privately run hospitals.
Education from a kindergarten to high-school is entirely state-funded, while most universities are private with the exception of Dripptik University, which is state funded. A notable private university is Darkmouth University, known as the most prestigious in the Supernatural world.
Demographics and Population Edit
The current total population of Hell is 22,746,950.
Geography and Wildlife Edit
The realm that Hell inhabits is entirely encased in rock. There is a force of gravity involved, and is about 8% more powerful than it is on Earth, however a "core" cannot be detected and neither is a "surface". The rock that encases Hell is unique, in that is luminescent and provides all of the natural light in Hell, however it is significantly weaker than the sun. Caverns naturally occur in the rock, as well as an intricate system of tunnels and caves, a vast majority of which haven't been explored.
Mineral Mining is the primary export of Hell, and metals such as iron, copper, titanium are abundant, as well as a notable amount of uranium. Oil is not naturally found in Hell, however gasses are encased in the rock and Fracking is a growing industry in the country.
The capital city of Hell is Dis. The original city was built in a large cavern, but has since expanded into the rock around it. The total area of the city is difficult to measure, since the nature of Hell allows for cities to be built vertically and not just horizontally, as such efforts have been made to measure the city in cubed kilometers. There are very few other settlements other than Dis due to the nature of Hell, however they exist (although smaller than Dis), such as Noot-Noot, P'enguinaa Qaas and Tei. A total of 28 settlements exist in Hell, including Dis itself.
The air in Hell was originally provided by a moss-like species of flora known as Oxygono [Working title]. The plant sticks to the rock walls and creates oxygen from inert gasses incased in the rock. Plants from Earth also contribute due to trade with our world.
